Despite having played Washington at least twice a year since 1970, the Super Bowl champion New York Giants are going to be playing somewhat of a guessing game against the Redskins in the kickoff game to the NFL season. It's one of the advantages that Jim Zorn brings to the Redskins as their new coach.

Tina Thompson leads Comets past Sky 79-76 (AP)
Tina Thompson had 26 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks and the Houston Comets beat the Chicago Sky 79-76 on Sunday. Mistie Williams had 13 points and nine rebounds for Houston (16-17), which won its second straight after dropping its previous five. Reneeka Hodges and Tamecka Dixon each added 12 points for the Comets, who improved to 4-13 on the road.

Top-seed Petrova reaches semis at Quebec (AP)
Top-seeded Nadia Petrova beat Melinda Czink of Hungary 6-1, 6-4 Friday to reach the Bell Challenge semifinals. Petrova also secured the second alternate berth for next week's season-ending WTA Tour Championships in Doha. The Russian has played in the elite event twice previously. Petrova advances to play American Angela Haynes, who lost in qualifying but made the draw when Flavia Pennetta withdrew.
